air conditioning in my 64

i know you can buy brand new kits of the internet for my truck but is there any way i can jut use the air conditioning system out of another vehicle?
does anyone know any specific vehicles i can easily use the ac system out of?

you can swap out of another vehicle but if you figure the amount of time youll spend customizing to fit yours, it will we well worth getting the pre set up kit.

youd have to fabricate brackets to fit the condensor and liquid tank, plus have your high and low lines made to fit. plus trying to get a switch panel set up will be some work too. also youd have to figure out how to wire up your high/low pressure switch as well etc etc......

in short, your looking at a WHOLE HELL OF ALOT OF WORK. :eek:
 
I use under dash units mounted in the dash for several reasons. They are less than half the price of custom units, many times easier to install with just one wire to connect and no cables/vacuum hoses/water valves etc., they are instantly cold with no ducts to cool down, the fan will blow your hat off on high since the air is a straight shot through the evaporator coil, and lastly I think they look damn nice. Pictures are of a 32 Plymouth and a 39 Ford dash. Later vehicles have even more room under the dash so I'm going to put one in my 63 short wide that is in the shop now.
