Cab trim question

Things are pretty quiet here in the forum so I thought maybe I would see if any of you and maybe especially the Task Force guys could help me with another question.

I've been interested in the cab trim that Classic Parts and other sources sell but realize that it goes above and below the rear window and door windows. That's fine and nice but what I would like is the trim that slides along the "rain gutter" of the cab. Mine has been removed and obviously never replaced. All that is left are the little blocks that it slides over.

Any info on if and where this "rain gutter" trim can be located or is it something that can only be found on a junker?
 
Rain gutter trim? Neat idea, but I've never seen it. The "deluxe" trim that I know of uses clips that mount in holes drilled through the cab above and below all the windows except the windshield.

Are you talking about the inside trim piece that goes around the sides and top of the windows on the inside of the cab?
 
Nope, it's on the exterior of the truck. I just ran out and snapped a pic to try to show what I'm talking about. You can see the little "blocks" along the rain gutter right where my cab transitions from white to red. I believe there was a piece of trim that slid along the side and was held in place by those blocks.

If Thats a Factory applied Item,I would say Its Rare!
In All My Years dealing with our year trucks Ive never seen
Rain gutter trim there.Pretty Cool If they did!Might be Like
Looking for a Zebra In the AZ Desert Tho Find it.

i'm looking for the gutter trim myself.i've only seen it twice and couldn't get any info.if find any info i'll let you know

Wow! A picture is worth a thousand words. I know you knew what you were asking for but I had never heard or seen such a thing until you sent the picture.

Since this trim seems so rare, I wonder if someone has possibly modified the "around the cab" trim for this purpose.
 
Based on the responses from those that have posted and their non-familiarity with trim on the rain gutter, I've taken a closer look and it appears that the method of attaching those "blocks" is actually a pop rivet. I'm guessing they drilled a small hole into the rain gutter then used an appropriately sized pop rivet to attach the blocks. If they ever attached a piece of trim and what became of it I'll never know.

I suspect that this was done by the same people who thought a sunroof was a good idea.:confused:
 
I feel your pain, I am trying to fix all the modifications that were made to my dashboard.

The guys decided to go with a typical 5 gauge cluster but they only put spedo and two others in the "V". They put Gas Gauge and Amps in the dash and drilled out the Choke and Cigar lighter holes to make them fit.
 
I had to fill 200 holes total in my Cab,I think the guy who had
my truck got a new Drill for Christmas and had to try it out by drilling
all those holes in my Cabs interior!!!!!
Ya, and Thank God he didnt install a sunroof.I ended up cutting out
the original Dash and putting in a complete stock dash in my 58,
I found it wasn't that hard once you start into it.
My 59 Stepside was another mess,the guy put some type of after
market A/C in the truck and installed every thing under the seat
he sawed into the floor board and then pushed all the sheet metal
down to route the A/C components in.there was even a trap door
on the passenger side at the step made out of a screen door.
about 4-miles of welding wire and hours of grinding, it all is back the the way started out as.
What fun this Hobby is sometimes!

Well the only thing I could think of was he had cup holders,Gun racks
speakers,coat hooks,grab bars,he even put another stock gas tank
on top of the existing tank and routed another stock filler neck out above the stock gas cap location,with all the holes he probably had
Curtans and flower holders,i am sure i am missing something!!!!

My suspicion here is why would one order that trim, if it was available, and not get the other stainless trim around the door window and back window.
 
I thought I would post a follow-up to this thread. I'm quite sure now that this attempt at trim was nothing factory but someones grand idea to add a little chrome. (IMHO):rolleyes:

Anyway, I ground the pop rivets down, sanded smooth, primed and painted with some matching paint I have in a shaker can. It's not perfect but looks a lot better than before.
