How much cab insulation needed ?

As my project continues, I am starting on the interior of my 5 window cab. Roughly How much insulation will I need?
I can measure, but real world numbers are always best.
I plan to put the insulation on the floor,doors,the whole cab where I can.
I will get dyna-mat or Eastwood's brand and just a single layer. What do you guys think I need. How many square feet of insulation?

before anyone says it, I will get some pictures soon. This site is my inspiration.

I bought a 100 sq. ft. from FAT MAT for about $200.00 and had less than 10 sq. ft. left over.I covered every surface possible in the cab and what I could reach in the doors.Hope this helps.
 
I like Hushmat. It sticks to ANYTHING and is not tempermental if it is not 100% clean. I found a great deal for it on Amazon. Hushmat also makes a foam mat in varying thicknesses for firewalls and floors. I used a whole bulk pack of hushmat in my truck, completely covering floor, firewall, back wall, corner walls and roof, inner and interior skin of doors. My truck is not quiet ( the Flowmasters assure that) but is a whole lot better than without. I also used the jute/ foil sandwiched stuff on top of all the hushmat for even more damping.
 
We use Dynamat but definitely do not buy from auto supply places but rather from stereo supply where it is much cheaper and in the identical box. I think Sonny is close because we get three 36 sq ft boxes and have a bit left if one covers everwhere that can be reached. This stuff really dampens noise and then for really good insulation for heat/cool we go over the mat with the air bubble foil. Some places, like where the window channel is close quarters, don't allow a double layer but the top and sides do which really helps. Not good for the floor where weight will pop the bubbles but fine for under the seat and any un-stepped on places.
 
I forgot to mention that the Fat Mat that I used was the Rattle Trap which is 80 mil. thick compared to the regular which is only 50 mil.I just Googled it and saw that Amazon.com has the 100 sq. ft. bulk package for $132.99 plus shipping.Good luck with your project.
 
Spray Foam

Has anyone tried the spray cans of foam from the building supply stores. I am thinking of filling cavaties between sheetmetal on a old ford truck. I put in inside on the door skins. They now make a thud instead of a tink when you tap the outside. I plan to let it sit in the shop for a month to prevent any moisture from being traped.
 
Tape up all holes you don't want the spray foam to come out of. It still will. It will grow out of little pin holes you didn't know were there. I filled the king cab panels in a past toyota truck with the stuff. It has horizontal icicles growing out of it in the morning from the smallest of panel joints.
 
Please Remember !

To install as much insulatio as you can BUT , not quite all the way to the floor or botton of any panel as this will promote collection of dirt & dust & thence rust again..... :mad: .

The improvement from fully insulating is amazing ! it makes the truck a nice place to spends days driving instead of feeling like you're riding inside a Kettle Drum .
