I was just wondering what is the difference is between the 235 truck motor and a 235 car motor. I found a car motor that has the two carburetor set up and header that has been rebuilt.

As I recall, there isn't much difference. The truck motor has a solid lifter cam and an aluminum cam gear while the car motors had hydraulic lifters and a fiber cam gear. Oh, and the colors were different. Other than that I'm not aware of any other differences.

If I recall correctly, the car engine had hydraulic lifters only if it was coupled to a powerglide tranny, but I could be wrong. Oil filler cap was located in the middle of the valve cover on car and in the front on trucks.

The Differance :

Technically , a " Motor " is tethered (think APU , Gen Set. , Trash Pump etc.) whereas your old truck has an " Engine " as it propels a vehicle....

GO GRAB that 235 ! . the hydraulic liters are apt. to clatter a bit @ hot idle but otherwise it'll be fine , I hope you're not going to pay a whole lot for it , the dual carby setup is only worth $250 Max. , I just sold mine .

Get it , scrub it Hospital clean & re spray it the correct Truck gray color , seal as necessary and slap it in , go run the wheels off your rig , you'll love the dual carbys , they increase fuel economy too .

Must depend on the year, cuz the '60 I have, have the filler in the middle and it came from a truck and the '56 have the filler in the front and I took it out of the car it came from! Matching numbers and all!

According to this, it is based on year. I can confirm this, at least in part. I have two '56 and one '57 235's. All three have the filler at the front of the valve cover.
