WOW, You've got that baby looking great! Glad that the brake advice helped -- these guys are a terrific source of info, aren't they?

    Looking good!

Nice job Bruce! You certainly have gotten it cleaned up pretty darn nice in a pretty short period of time.

OUTSTANDING!!!! (BTW, I now have "picture-posting envy"!)

Drive that baby! Then drive it a bit more for all of us whose trucks are in pieces!

    Wow, That truck looks sweet!
Can you tell me what years the "Advance Design" mantra covers?
I don't have one of these but I am a definite admirer.
Hope I don't get whooped for being in the wrong forum :D
    Thanks, joe

My son and I took it down to the Cabelas in Fort Worth this afternoon. 60 mph is a stretch... He "needed" a new pocket knife - like the one I have... Got home and we spent some time on the tail gate carving... I am a very happy man!

    We'd never whoop you!

Joe, we're a proud bunch! We love it when someone says-Wow, now that's a cool truck! The Advance Design era started in mid '47 and went through early '55.

    BTW, I'm pretty fond of '60-66 PU's!!

    Joe,

Thank you. Your comments mean a lot. I love all of the old vehicles. You know the bottom line is that each of us put our time, talent and heart into these old things. I see a kid driving a dropped down car or truck and even though that is not my preference I truly admire their effort. Therefore it's not the vehicle - it's what we put into it.

    Look into the light...

A young man on the tailgate of an old, beautiful, well-done AD. The low evening light shouting out to our nearness of our own last evening. Does anyone ever think of the kicks the designer(s) might have had when they came up with the design we all have an infinity for? Could they see this in their minds? A child and his proud papa~ camera in hand. A picture for us to look at and think about what was important in life. Something new and shiny? Or something solid and designed with "art" in mind? What will last? Love for art? Tell me which is which. The young man? Or is it the truck he's sitting on? (or both~)

Thank you for the GREAT photos, Bruce! Too cool!

    Yes , Zig

They most certainly did ~ just take a look at any of the old ads for AD era trucks that were produced - they're all full of colors and happy , hard working people who know The War is over and prosperity lies ahead ~ of course it is ! they're driving the best trucks GM has made yet ! . hard work is the key to the American Dream , all this and oh so much more is plainly visable in AD sales literature....

    A Happy Man Indeed !

Bruce ~ that picture is *so* great , it looks like a sales ad for a 53 year old truck.....

Be proud , this is your moment , take much pleasure in the time you spend with your son , he'll grow up in an eyeblink , I know this . you will treasure this picture in years to come , trust me ~ I have a very few of my son with me or one of my old clunkers , precious memories indeed :) .
