rear bumper identification?

Hi guys, anyone ever seen a rear bumper that looks like its made from railway line? on my 50 3100 i have a bumper like this marked LAMB CHEV CO on d/side and SNYDER TEX on p/side with RUFFNECK SMASH-HIT in the middle. im not going to get rid of it for stock bumper as it just seems to suit my truck down to the ground, i just wanted more information about it, anyone help?

Here in the states,we see bumpers that were custom made for the dealers,with their own logos on them. Undoubtably,this is what you have.
 
Yep ;

Just so ~ you have a real By God American Ranch Truck Bumper on there.

Dealers all across America used to make these on an as-needed basis for folks who actually WORKED thier old trucks , esp. in Texas where they'd often work a bit of style into the massive things .

Sadly , here in California , " restorers " who are building to sales brochure specs , toss these things out .

Well im gonna keep the old bumper, looks like it'll take a small aircraft carrier to put a dent in it, feel sorry for anyone who rear ends me, love to post some pics but aint got the knowhow, us brits didnt get to the moon like you guys so we are a bit behind tech wise ha ha

Close Nate. its only mad dogs and englishmen go out and build their trucks in the rain! you guys out there have no idea of what its like to be trying to dismantle a complete truck, in rain thats going sideways, and temperatures that make the drip on the end of your nose begin to ice up. all for the love of me "50" how mad am I? well i took the cab off the chassis on my own without damage in what can only be decribed as a paddy field that was my back yard, looked like i had fell in the pool afterwards,

As I was born & raised a (damned) Yankee , I certainly know wet & cold better than most , New England isn't called that because it's warm & dry ! ;-)

Pre-war Blues are the very best .

FolkWays Records is now owned by The Smithsonian Institute , they offer many fine recordings .

I have a few CD's but I am always looking for more , ever more .

The Blues are uniquely American music.

To return to the original topic, I find it interesting your 50 does not have an original rear bumper, they were standard equipment in 1950, and became optional in 1951. Which is when dealers started putting on their own rear bumpers with the free advertising.

Back in the day , most AD's didn;t have any rear bumper .

Ranch trucks typically had a big old welded up affair as it allowed rough useage and protected the truck well .

Now everyone wants it to look like the DeLuxe model onthier catalog's cover...

Amazingly , folks are still throwing out grille guards .

Nate's right, here is the other end of a Texas "ranch truck". Note the plates on the end of the guard to keep brush from getting caught when backing up. The rods are 5/8 in diameter and the workmanship is really very good. Well that pic explains a few things, namely the strange damage to the front wings and bumper cover, my truck must have had one of those grill guards too at some time, hell its even the same colour and patina as the one in the pics,
