Hello All,
I am in need of a seat adjuster for a stock bench seat in a 1950 3100. Does anybody have an extra one that they would sell reasonably?

Passenger Side

I _desperately_ need the passenger side seat adjuster please.....

Do you suppose that the seat adjusters from a panel truck are interchangable with the pu? If so, I might have a set. Plan to visit my mother in October and will check out the old panel truck there and it might still have them in it.

Okay, let me back up... there is a cable that runs around the bottom of the seat frame. It is connected to levers on each side of the seat rails. Is this how the seat moves forward:confused:

At a local wrecking yard, I have seen trucks that have a rod under the seat that goes from driver to passenger along with the cable (or is this how the seat moves forward?), I would have grabbed one, but they were rusted real bad. It's been so long since I had the seat in my truck, I do not remember what it looked like.

Nate... do you need the rails that the seat rides on? The same wrecking yard has a few trucks with the rails still in them. But the parts I am looking for were no good. I am planning on going back for some other parts.

AD Seat Adjusters

O.K. , thanx Mike ~ in AD's , there is no ' cable ' ~ there are two adjusters and a rod that connects the two , this rod passes through a hard rubber support that fits in that little hole smack dab in the center of your floor's seat pan (now you know it's not a drain hole) , this rubber bit is usually gone missing or broken off in trucks that folks stored stuff underneath the seat in .

_I_ need the passenger side adjuster rail thing-a-ma-jig , it has two fasteners holding it to the seat riser and two more fasteners holding the seat frame to it .

Mine was cut with a Sawzall when the DPO installed a 2' base thumper speaker under the seat so his " bitches " would feel the bass in thier nether reigons.... (swear , that's true) he notched it too far to save , bummer as it looks O.K. apart from that .

So if you find one , please lemme know .

I dunno if it's the same in a panel truck or not , could be , might just have a shorter rod to connect the two .

I always thought that little hole in floor was for water to drain after you washed the inside of your truck (Dad would have me take out seats and wash truck from inside to out, he always said that the water wouldn't hurt that ole truck, its built to last). I have included pictures of seat rails with a partial cable attached. I thought this cable ran around on the bottom of the seat (also attached pics) frame and connected to the thing-a-ma-jig on both sides of seat rails.

Hey Mike ;

You dad was right ! a little water usualy helps as long as it's dried out before that rubber mat goes back down to trap it in and cause rust ~ I love the look and ease of rubber mats but they trap water and that's very bad for us ~ even here in the desert where it stays hot and dry most of the year , I find water under the doggoned mat months after washong my truck if I don't dry it out after...

Anyway , in your pix I clearly see a seat adjuster cable but all the AD's I work on don't have this ! . very interesting . maybe it depends on which plant it was made in ? or it's another of those things that changed in '49 ~ '50 ? .

I dunno but I have a different setup .
 
i just got done looking at a 48-51 shop manual on online old manuals, www.chevy.tocmp.com and it says that 48 through 50 were cable operated seat adjusters while 51 was rod (and grommet) operated adjusters. Very interesting, because i thought they were all rod operated myself.
 
Well that's interesting ;

I don't have my shop manual here but my mid '49 has this later , simpler design seat adjuster .

It was built in the Oakland , Ca. assembly plant .
 
Hey guys I went home this weekend and looked for my seat adjusters. I can't find them as of yet but I know I had them. I'm going back in thursday night through sunday night. I'll have more time to look then. If I find them I'll let you know. Sorry:(
 
One for Nate... Does your seat rails have a slight bow to them? I was at the wrecking yard this morning and I pulled a passenger side seat rail out and it looked slightly bowed, BUT, all the trucks I looked into had the same bow. I'm asking because my seat rails have no bow in them. All the cable style seat rails I looked at looked flat while all the rod style looked bowed.:confused:

That's interesting , I don't recall it being bowed but I'll have to go out and pull up the seat soon to look ~ my pinched nerves are precluding any work at the moment , didn't get but 4 hours of sleep last night and that in 20 minute increments when I simply passed out from exhaustion .
