Spare tire Carrier

Still searching for a part of the spare tire carrier for my truck any body have one Thanks See Pic its the part at the bottom of the pic.

Didja ever find this ? print out the picture and take it to Po-mona to morrow , if you make up a sign on cardboard (I use the inside of old cereal boxes) then hang on your back , you'll get one for cheap right away as many have them but don't think valuable .

Or , contact Joe , he'll have one for you .

I might have one that I am not using but I won't know until spring so if you are still looking then let me know.

My truck and parts are stored at my dad's place and if you are still looking when I head up there in late march I'll look for one.
 
Hey Root I need only the piece at the bottom of the picture let me know if you find one after the thaw and thanks for posting.

I do not know how far you have gotten on you spare tire holder, but that bottom part looks like it might be from a different year. You know I do not have that part in my 1948 set-up and am trying to figure how it would work.

I also have a frame up at the ranch and it has kindof a modern add-on type...kindof made of a couple of channel metal, bolts, and just drop to get at the spare.

The 48 has the slide out type and a lot smaller brace holding the slide. That part that is at the bottom would defeat or make it impossible to have that slide. The top part is the one that uses that slide with a metal dowel that actually slides at the top.

You might check into a few different setups...

Rod, the picture that Ron is showing is the original spare tire setup from my '50 PU. If your AD has the sliding mechanism riveted to the frame, this is the correct setup.

I hate when this happens...now I have to start looking for another part!

That's the part that holds the spare solid to the slide. I never thought that part would be such a big bulky piece. I had another thing that held it tight. I can clearly see how this would be much better. I have never ever seen that part...all this time I have had the spare turned upside down to take up that extra room. I also had some type of trouble when I put on my trailer towing bumper on...that explains a few things.

On a related, subject...I was just discussing with my son who has a 49 Rat Rod...I am the Original 48 Rod..Ha,Ha. When I was in high school, every kid knew how to change a flat and done it...Male or Female...I even believe that the pet cat and dog knew how to do it. Some of us, did the changing of flats tires fairly often...lots of dirt roads and being rough on vehicles. Now, kids in high school...maybe 99% have never had the experience...I know that many do not even know how to get to the spare. I do believe that there is an exception to this...cats and dogs still have the capacity to perform this time honored tradition.

Now(#2), they are selling multi-thousand dollar, $$$$$, cars with no spare...not even the donut! It is a little dumb piece of technology that you have to be lucky with....no blow outs, no cuts, no slices, not even a hole larger than a little tack? No spare! I usually carry that stuff anyway, if I am going far, but no spare? What is with that...What kind of multi-genius came up with that?

OK...I feel better.

I carry a real spare!
