the thing that can go wrong...goes wrong....the pilot bushing wont go in !!
it seems to be to big ? I tapped it a little with a hammer but at the end...the bushing broke in little pieces.There is the half of the bushing still in,hopefully i can get it out.Good that i ordered a extra one.
Is there a "trick" to get it in ?

they are tight. I usually use an impact socket that is the same size as the bushing and use that in between the hammer and bearing. You want the driving force to push evenly on the bushing.....so I use a 4 pound mallet that hits the socket right in the center....and they go in pretty easilly for me.

Put it in the freezer overnight. Take it out the next day and immediatly install it using the method described by our friend Billy.

OK the freezer,that i gonna try when i can get the broken 1 out....it does not move....

all it takes is a small chisel.If you don't have one,its easyly made by grinding two flat sides on a thrift/ centerpunch or whatchamaycallit.A screwdriver is usually too soft. So chisel it out,try not to mar the crankshaft.
A impact socket is a ' Schlagschraubernuss' (german word for it).A other way to get the bushing/bearing in there is : find a screw( slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the bushing) spin the nut on it,put a washer on it and hammer itwith your new homemade tool in the crankshaft.The washer is flat and soft enough not to destroy the bushing

Next week the work starts again on the truck and gonna try all those "tricks".
Yes i know now what a impact socket or a ' schlagschraubernuss' is thanks.
Just the 1/2 pilot bushing that is still in i can't get out...i know what to do and try first now.
Now that i'm dooing all this work i'm thinking to put a floor shifter in.Then is also the three on tree problem solved...he is sooooooo bad.
Here comes the question....somebody dith this and can give me good advice how to do,where to make the hole in the correct location ? I don't want to weld again...
Is there a little manual with the parts when i buy the shifter kit ? I am not a pro....
A good website to buy from would be great also ! Whit a little tip what i must buy.(not LMC please )

The bad bronze bushing is out(that was not easy,it broke in little pieces)and a new 1 is in.

Somebody used 1 of these before and give me some good advice how to hook it up the correct way ?

Hey Guys,the Chevrolet is back on the road,the testdrive was perfect.I did most of the work myself and i am proud of myself !A lot of work just for changing that stupid bushing...now he drives great with the new clutch kit also.
He has still the 3 speed on the collumn,works also better than before.
So if you do a truck and motor resto.....change everything in the beginning
