I have a muncie 3 spd trans (318- cast 591615) with casting numbers for 48-54 Commercial. The serial number is KOI66392. Any Idea what the KOI means?

Craig, K is the designation for 1952 and O stands for Muncie. Check again to see if that is an I or a 1. My bet is 1, as that would be the first digit of the production #.

Thanks, I'll check on the "1" and post back. Trans also has J21 2, GM 6, casting numbers on it if that means anything.

I checked the number

Hi Ken, Here's a picture of the number. It still looks like an "I" to me. This tranny is part of a 54 engine and I guess they used the old 52 tranny that was in the truck at the time.:D

A lot of those stamp sets only had one stamp to be used for both 1 and I, one stamp for O and 0 and one stamp for 6 and 9.
