Wide Running Boards

I saw this over at The Stovebolt site and wanted to share. It seems that from '47-'55 there was a factory option for wide running boards?

Funny thing is, to a guy like me who doesn't know the pre 1955 trucks that well, the "wide" running boards look like they should have been standard equipment. The splash apron on the standard running boards get in the way if you use the running board as a step. :sad: I guess it all depends on if you call them running boards or steps. :rolleyes:

Splash

The bed rail sticks out about as far as the splash apron. There is plenty of space to step on the standard AD running board past the cab.

Very interesting 2 piece option.

The top picture is more interesting Ken. You could agrue that is the first implementation of disk brakes on Chevy trucks.
