I replied in to a thread that at one time I had 36 AD trucks and got quite a few PM's about various parts. First, our host and ones like Joe at Dead Zone SELL parts, I buy parts. Second, some could possibly assume I'm a money bags---wrong. You know how bicycle shops always have a bunch of old dead bikes around and lawnmower repair shops have dead mowers around; it's the same with shops that work on old cars/trucks, they just accumulate. Here are a few of my better condition "treasures" and they go downhill from here. I just WISH I could go poke a key in one and cruise down to the Sonic.

Evan, I never once thought of you as Daddy Warbucks! The funny part about the whole thing is that there are kids out there right now that think every piece of junk is worth a small fortune! I spent the entire summer of 1970 buying every junker AD I could find and was told by my dad not to spend more than 25 bucks on it unless it had good rubber on it and I could drive it home.

I'am hangin' on to my collection....

Dang, Evan~ Some of the beds on those trucks look like they just need a coat of paint and they'd be good to go. Nice!

Memories

When I were a laddie ;

Old vehicles like Joe tosses down the canyon mouth , were used along the riverbanks to prevent erosion when the winter rains made the run off run higher and faster than usual .

I know a place like this near Tehachipi , Ca. where I took a Low Rider City Boy I know to look , he went bonkers and began taking off bits of stainless steel trims , horn buttons and so on....

Post like these are why I like it here better than any other old truck site .

Evan,

You may have far more "downhill" rigs than "treasures"... but I'm still quite envious of your bone yard!! Great stories and great pictures.
