IS FRIGGIN OVER!!!!

My goodness the difference a set of POINTS makes!!!
The one I took off only had one spring (brass) and no doubt went flopping all over at the higher RPM.

I took that 228 all the way up to (almost) 3,000 RPM and not a miss (to speak of) the whole way!!!!

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED!!!

And most importantly, a BIG tip of the TEXAS hat to Mr. Bill Hanlon!!!!

Talk about hanging in there and going above and w-a-y beyond the call of duty!!! His present took the guess work right out of it!! And I think HE logged more hours on this than I did!!!

Anyway, I-AM-SO-FRIGGIN-HAPPY!!!!!

Guess what is on my list of things to do tomorrow?! Make that video of me driving the heck out of the garage where it came to life!

I'd sure hope not! I haven't had a ticket since I was 17, so I'd gladly take a few just to drive this thing again. ;)

Drive the points until one day these weld together and leave you sitting on the roadside.

Then install the Pertronix ignition in your old distributor!

I can't tell you how pleased I am for you now that your truck is ready for a test run. Shake her down easy, then after everything cools off, spend some time checking for loose nuts and bolts.

Enjoy your truck and believe you can do anything!

I've been out of town a few weeks , still trying to catch up .

When I began reading I saw you were in good hands and didn't want to add one too many cooks to the kitchen .

Now that you're an old had at this , look up Deve's most excellent Tech Site and follow the tune up stuff in there , I had a hand in some of it .

Or , just wait a bit and I'll write up a how to use that Dwell meter to set the points BANG ON .

I hope by now you've taken the fly wheel cover off and wire brushed the timing marks (ignition and timing both) shiny clean ? :rolleyes: .

Bill is smiling in this picture *only* because he could hear me whooping and hollering all the way down at his house.
He was actually getting ready to drown himself moments before this picture was taken! Yes~ It was that bad! :D
