I've always heard once you got them on their back things were going your way. Seriously, by starting from ground zero anything in the future that goes awry you will have a good idea of what the problem is because you've actually handled it with your own little paws. Keep the progress pics coming.

Buy the way, wanna sell that cab? Looks much better than mine! Frame is back from blasting, Cab is getting done now, running boards got blasted and powder coat. Looong way to go! All the best, Rick
Alright!!! Way to go Mr. Stardust!!! Keep at it. I am certain you had your wheaties and tipped that cab over by your lonesome. Unless your little girl helped you with it. Cab looks GREAT!!! I am sure many on this forum wish the underside of their cab looked that good when they got it. Floors look really good from what I can see. That's a major bonus. Good luck. Hopefully it will go quicker from here on in and you will be motoring soon. Andy
8 lug going on 5 Thanks, Rick! It is a 3/4 like Wolf's. The bed is just a tad over 8'? I forget~ it's been a while. I believe the tires are the usual 29" tires? (Stock) The 8 lug is just there to support the weight until I get ready to replace it with something more "zoom-zoom". My cab looked - well... not that good. But~ with some elbow grease, sandpaper, etching primer and some smoooooth coats of rattle can paint... Time wise, I wish I could treat my frame to the kind of treatment you did. However, $$$ say no. That's OK though, because like Evan said, I'll know this truck just like the love it is. I have my cans of "cold oven" Easy Off. Give me a few free moments and... Believe me~ this is fun, but I know what I want and how much of me that will take. I got to get 'er done before I'm to old or weak to do it!
Thanks, Evan! That's exactly what I remember from my first truck my dad and I rebuilt. Every little thing, I new where and what might be causing it. To bad I got away from that... I'm back now though! ...with your help!
It;s a G Thanks, Andy! The floors are good except for those perfectly square cornered rust holes! Seriously~ I think it's that great "G" quality that our leader talks about. I am excited, though! One more week of school, then I'm free for a week. I might just say screw fishing, give me my drill and 3M disc!
Bro! Do not scrimp on preparation! Jasco metal prep is relatively cheap! Work it slowly and diligently! Do it right the first time and it will pay off forever!

Jasco Metal Prep Is Phosphoric Avid and will dissolve rust but _NOT_ eat good metal unlike most acids . Try dropping a rusty bumper bolt into it , you'll be amazed ! . No potmetal nor aluminum parts tho ! Get it in OSH Hardware etc. , in the flooring department , it comes in white plastic quart bottles and is the Bees Knees for de-rusting fuel tanks... dilute 1 to 3 with ditilled water and watch the rust dissapear .
Cool Beans! I don't think I have much rust to contend with though~ It seems to be more Kansas dirt and/or oil/grease mix... I'll get some of this, though!
Sidetracked Sidetracked, but what better way? My mom and dad went fishing with my daughter and me at the small lake behind PSU's stadium. I think the smile says it all! Fish and chips anyone?
Except For : Working on / driving old cars trucks or Motos with my son.... Neither of us like fishing much .
You have that up in the air just as I pictured it!!! Zig's truck is in great shape, hardly any rust!!! And trust me he does a great rattle can paint job. Gotta love those 3/4 ton's!!!
Tired! I wish this meant I was putting tires on it, but~ I've had fun, and it's been a bunch of expected work. But I'm happy, and thought I'd share pictures of my progress. The las picture shows how wishy-washy I am. I think I remember saying I'd "just paint it~ who cares about the dents." Well, as the noon day sun shone down over the top of the cab, I could see _all_ the friggin' dents that years of "who cares" gave it. I thought it was time to find out about bondo. Just let me say, "Bondo be my friend!" I love the stuff! (It did take a couple of batches to find out the "ribbon" you mix in doesn't have to be that big~ All those times sanding sheet rock paid off! Now the roof is as smooth as a babies butt, and ready for paint! Yes, I have a Monkey Ward's paint gun that's never been used. It was my dad's. So~ more smoke I blew... Because rattle can paint will fade way to soon, I will be more orthodox. But~ keep in mind, I've never used a gun before, so it will still be interesting! Anyway, hope you like the pictures!
