    Hey everyone,
New to the forum and introducing my new ride. This is my first old truck and I've been searching for a long time. This deal sort of just fell into my lap and I couldn't be more thrilled. Its a long ways from done but its not a junker either. I traded a car plus some cash for it. The only major issue I have is major bump steer. Im going to take off the front fenders and see if I can find the problem.

    Plans:

Since I live in Miami, AC!
Door poppers since I have shaved door handles
All the window and door seals
    New paint in and out
    New gauge faces
    Original column and steering wheel
    Eventually (mustang front and bags)

    Outstanding!!!

You know I'M happy! Another (yes, ANOTHER!) GMC!!!! :D

I love the wide whites, also!

Looks like a fun ride! Do you have leaf springs up front? The PO might have done something like heat them up to drop the truck down. (not good...)

That amount of rake may have some effect on the bumpsteer also. Read through my thread on How to assemble an AD to see all the little parts that go into these things. I have many tech articles beginning with "How to.....". Ask away with any questions you may have.

    Welcome alex !

Looks like you're off to a good start .

You can ask most anything here as the good folks here have done pretty much everything you can imagine , also look in the older posts and print out the ideas and DIY help , make up a folder so you'll have it handy when you're out working .

Thanks for all the comments. I am going to take a leaf off the back to correct the rake. I will be taking the truck apart soon to look at the front suspension and get the body ready for some new paint. I have a pretty interesting idea which may turn out awesome or may be a total flop, we shall see :)

ol' chebby- I looked through your stuff last night and I must say it is so impressive. I see the truck had Florida plates. Are you in NC or FL?

A few things you might check while waiting for your planned IFS. The drag link needs to be parallel with the floor regardless of the rake. Extreme rake causes a change in caster angle which should be set back to factory specs. Check the rear spring eye bolt and bushing as wear here will let the whole axle move back and forth. Set toe in to spec. Good radial tires, not cheapies, aired to the high side of recommendation help quite a bit. Remember, dragsters are running 330mph with a straight front axle so they can be made to go straight.
