Here's our new '54 that my dad and I are working on. There's a couple of cancer spots (cab corners, rear half of running boards), but for the most part, it's solid. The previous owner did the entire brake system, wheel bearings, new gas tank, new radiator. Has a '55 235 in it. Can't wait to put everything back to stock. The best part is that Classic Parts' home office is 5 minutes from work
Welcome Welcome, I am fairly close to you also!! I live in Olathe KS, which is like a 30 min drive to classic parts for me. I have a 52 GMC 3/4 ton. the guys on this site are awesome, very very knowledgeable, helpful, fun, and friendly. just a great source of information, and more importantly friends. Enjoy and post pic!!! PS your truck is sweet!!!
Welcome chicklin! Lucky you! Nice truck and NICE location! So close to our host! So you have a 3/4~ Wolf is reworking a 3/4 and so am I. Both of ours are Gs, but that's another story!
Welcome , noob ! That's a nice truck there , by now I am sure you know how rare it is , some folks really go for the 54's . Keep us posted and don't forget to sign your name or " handle " so's we can get to know you . Remember : no matter how mundane , there are NO ' stupid questions '
Love the paint Please don't re-paint it!!! Clear coat it and let the trailer queen guys sweat when the kids come near their rides at the shows. Andy
Welcome aboard, I'm Charles I have a 47 Chevy(1 ton) 3804 with the Nine Ft. Bed , hope you enjoy your stay.
Glad to hear there are some other 3600's out there. Although, it seems to me that 3/4 ton didn't mean quite the same thing 50 years ago as it does now. Maybe the springs are just worn out, but it doesn't feel very "heavy duty" to me. Awesome truck, though.
I got the shop and assembly manuals and having done some reading, I am now understanding that I LUCKED OUT!!! I like that it's unique, but not obscure. I've had a few military vehicles in the past and you wanna talk about obscure. I am amazed at the plethora and inexpensiveness of parts for these things.
You know, I just got it running well today and I was thinking the same thing. Fix the stuff that's broken and just drive it. Unfortunately, there is some rot and the bed floor is completely eaten away. That being said, I drove it around the cul-de-sac today, and I felt like Mario Andretti.
