Hello Everyone,
Newby here to early chevy pickups but have always had a desire to own and restore one someday.....that day has arrived by my purchase of this beaty. I plan to get motor turned over, redo brake system and convert to 12V system...so i can ride as is till I begin full resto. in the meantime ill be looking for a rear spare tire mount and fender, front stone splash guard, tranny flywheel cover and drivers glass window. i have enjoyed viewing everyones work on these models.....great website. thanks, Carlos.

Welcome Carlos. I know you'll enjoy your truck as much as the rest of us do ours. BTW, We're practically neighbors, as I live in Magnolia,(near FM1488). Keep us informed as to what parts you need and maybe I can help a little. Post a pic or two and you'll get a lot of ooh's and aah's.

53 "peace" pickup

think I figured out how to insert pic. love the peace sign art on my truck..takes me back to woodstock...lol

Carlos, you did very well. From what I can tell from that picture you have some good sheet metal to start with. Seems straight and pretty much all there.
I think you will enjoy this truck very much.
Cheers,

Thanks Skalywag,
still learning to maneuver through website and having difficulty loading more pics to post. Im impressed with everyones trucks and their hard work maintaining them so nice.

Thanks for the welcome cchar and vwnate1, hope to learn and discover new ideas and tips from all you guys.

found this 53 in Rosenberg TX, still being used by older gentleman on his farm. I could not locate VIN number as the tag on post was long gone and only VIN number available on the Title came from the engine serial number. was told that back in the day the VIN number could be the engine serial number or the VIN tag number...kinda confusing but hey...53 has a legal title with the state.

VIN & Title

Well ;

The only place the VIN was , was on that tag .

New tags are available and you can have a Trophy Shop stamp it for you .

If you ever have the front sheet metal off , you can add the VIN to the frame near the steering box , this isn't easy to do so it looks correct however .

Or is your title using the engine serial # now ? . if so , you are correct ~ most states used it back then as the engine was the most valuable part of the vehicle .

It looks like it's a very solid truck to me .
