Fuel Filter Location

Good advice, I'm guessing underneath is a fire hazard or easy to bang up? Not sure why you don't want them want them before the fuel pump. I'm still learning.

Right on both counts ! also , where it's located makes it bugger all fun to change when it packs up on a muddy bit of road or in the chop somewhere's or in the rain etc. , having it below the fuel tank means raw fuel gushing all over you as your passenger or some dimwit in a passing car tosses a match .

Not to mention the fact that fuel filters are always to be placed after the fuel pump , dirt & debris won't bother the old tech mechanical pumps .

Nate, how 'bout if he moved it over to inside the frame rail? If it got hit by something there, he's screwed anyway, right? My blazer and van both have filters w-a-y back yonder, but they are inside the rail area.

See the buffer? Thick enough clear will allow you to cut and buff out a multitude of sins.

Larrys 48-I actually painted it at my uncles body shop. I just washed out the paint booth before painting it, that kept most of the junk out of the paint.

ol' chebby- The paint I used actually wasnt base clear. I used a single stage paint made by PPG called DCC concept acrylic urethane.

Zig-I painted with a mask, the picture your talking about im just wiping every thing down with wax and grease remover.

Your truck is looking great. I went to a PPG dealer and they recommended to me the same type of paint. After using the DCC Concept, how did you like it? Was it as easy as they say? Did you run into any problems with it? Your truck is coming along great.

Hello

JW 54-I really liked the paint, some of the best paint I have ever used. It sprayed really nice and layed down excellent. If your going with a soild color I would highly recommend it. I did a ford tractor with DCC and even the cast iron part came out super shiney and durable.

Jesse, you should respect your elders! The first 8 pics were too small for these 56 yr old eyes to see!

Your truck is looking awesome. The 1st AD my dad (God rest his soul) and I rebuilt was a '49 in 1971. One of dad's buddies stopped by as I was hand compounding the freshly painted black lacquer paint job dad had applied and said "What'll you take for it?" Trying to blow him off, I replied "$2500". He said "Give me an hour. You want cash or certified check?" Boy, was that an awkward phone call to dad

If there is a moral to this story, I guess it might be: "Never price anything that you don't want to sell!" $2500 for a '49 chevy pu was way overpriced in 1971! Nowadays, you might buy a rusted out hunk of crap for 3 times that price!

What is the status of the Wallis? The Wallis is one of my favorite tractors, do you have any news on what is needed now on it. I have always wanted one but could only get my hands on a 1936 Massey Harris Challenger which has the Wallis power train and that Great sound they make when running without any muffler is really good to hear. Thanks for posting your progress on the Truck you are doing great.

ccharr, the wallis has pretty much been put on the back burner for now.. I really just want to get my truck done first.lol All im really missing now is one sleeve, the rest of the engine is pretty much done. The head has been rebuilt it has all new bearings and n.o.s timing gears. I just have a little more work to do on the governer. I also have all new sheet metal for it (fenders, hood, grill, gas tank) If anyone knows where I can find a sleeve let me know I'v been looking for like 2 years now... Im starting to think I might have to make one.. ccharr it will probably be for sale some day after I get it done!

Zig the wheels are just rattel can paint for now.. I just wanted to see if I wanted red wheels or black. Still havent made up my mind.... what do you guys think?? Im pretty sure im going to get wide white wall tires also.

Hello

I was just had a few questions for anyone that has bought new crome for there truck like grills, bummbers, trim ect.. does it fit good? how is the quality? Do you think it would be worth getting my old stuff recromed? Thanks for any advice!
