BINGO! We have a winner! Thanks. You've saved me a lot of surfing, as if i need a reson to surf! Ya'll have an awesome spread there. Hopefully, you have the pond stocked with fish! I'm still trying to figure out how exhaust gases escape from those tubes! Keep posting and by all means, "Keep on Truckin!"

My hood stood up like that but it scared me to leave it like that. I hung it on the wall out of the way.

    Most excellent, Dude!

One question, who's in the seat? Flipper Sr or Flipper Jr? Irregardless, welcome back!!

    Its my dad.

The flipper nickname started with me.

I flipped a Suzuki Samurai 3 times in the same month and the guys at work never let me live it down (10 years ago?)

Here's what the seat looks like under the vinyl.

I used sheetmetal to form the seat back and seat bottom..

There is a steel subframe under the seat bottom to help carry the load.

The seat back and bottoms are contoured more like a modern seat and will be padded with a couple of inches of foam. (This is just the first layer. Bottom layers are gonna be dense, top layers something more cushy)

It got 2 inches of soft foam on the back and about 5 inches on the bottom (1 firm and 4 soft).

Doing the seat like this gains a bunch of interior space over the stock set-up. My seat back sheetmetal actually touches the back of the cab. I sit 3-4 inches lower and about 4-5 inches farther back.

    Hey Flipper, we won't either!

We don't let people live things down, either! Just ask Chiro! Glad to have you back! Cherish the time you have with your dad. Relationships like that go away too fast! I'd give anything to have my dad with me right now to "thump me on the head" and steer me in the right direction! Keep us posted on your progress!

Wow ~ impressive bit of work there .

I recently tried a gel pad on a thin seat and it worked a treat ~ I dunno if they're available big enough to lay on top of your foam or just use a bit in the driver's area.....

Keep the pix coming ! .

Its amazing how much work can go into a ratty lookin' truck. At times, I think it would have been easier to build a shiney one.

Yeah, I had problems finding foam I liked....part of the problem was not really knowing where to get the right materials. My foam came from Walmart and Hobby Lobby.

I put some more time in on it this weekend. I got the gas tank mounted.

It is a 2005 S-10 blazer tank (plastic tank...no rust flakes to deal with). It don't look like all that hard of a job, but it sure ate up the time. The filler neck is hidden under the edge of the bed.

I also got the boards cut the go under the flatbed. I didn't like being able to see through the truck (under the flatbed)

Will you be painting the ride? The reason I ask . . . something about an old ratty truck with those wheels on it and a nice grill is probably one of the most unique things I have ever seen. When I pulled up the original pic on here, my first thought was "I hope he keeps it that way." BTW, your earlier comment about welding . . . my dad uses an arc welder cranked to full power on EVERYTHING, and I kid you not all of his welds look like they were done by a machine. His son, on the other hand, does not have that tallent. But as I have come to realize, you needn't be a good welder, only good with a grinder.

It is as painted as it is ever gonna be.

The grill is rusted and blistered too.

I think it is a cool old truck. Too rough to restore.....but to much character to crush.

    Even I like it

No plastic fuel tanks for me ! there was this F**d minivan thing that ran over a chunk of scrap steel on the freeway , it exploded into flames and of course was being driven full of kids , by soccermom who had NO IDEA what to do next...

For a while we had the invasion of the brits, but I think Tn is taking over. Cool truck flipper, you driving up for the good guys show next weekend in Nashville. If you're that close you shouldn't miss it.

My dad lives in Collierville, TN. I live in Franklin, KY.

I drive to his house to play with the toys.
