Hey Paul!! It's well coming along... kinda... I have the interior finished, well ok when are you ever "finished". I still have to get a headliner, but I need the center retaining strip. But I have my dash painted the gauges rebuilt, seat finished, and the floor done. I am going to take it to a body shop shortly, to have them straighten out a few dents, put on my passenger side door, and straighten out my A-Pillar. Also I will have them install all my new door seals, window seals, and rear window. I was hoping to have a lot more finished by now, but summers are so busy. The wife has been doing a lot of craft things, so I have been helping her with that, which is nice cuz she makes money on those and lets me spend it on the truck!!! My parents live 6 hrs away, and they have been remodeling their house, so my uncle and I went back a few times on the weekends to help them out. Actually I am going back this weekend and the next. I did have some time this weekend to adjust the huck brakes, not too hard, and take my new fuel tank back out and get a new nipple connection and some gasket sealer. Now it doesn’t leak. Tonight I am hoping to put a few gallons of gas in it and drive it around for the first time. I have attached a few pics: One of my finished dash, one of my uncle and some friends adjusting the carb after he rebuilt it. I also got the brakes lines hooked up and bleed. Many many many thanks to Paul for donating yet another part to me to finish my brakes. I don’t know what I would do without him!!! He sent me his brake clevis so I could hook up the master cylinder, you wouldn’t believe how hard those are to find. But I now have the brakes adjusted and fuel leak stopped and am ready to drive it, around the block. Next is some wiring issues, and the body shop and next the inspection office and tags!!! Thanks to all for the help, what a great resource, and more important, what a great bunch of people!!! Also when my uncle & I went to help my parents, he happened to pick up a 66 mustang!
Looking good there ! keep up the good work , don;lt forget you'll need to re-adjust the brakes as they bed in , TWO adjusters per wheel on Huck brakes...

Proper Brake Adjusting O.K. , you said you have Suck , er Huck brakes and that Operator's Booklet is for fabulous Bendix , there's a significant diffence..... Huck has two adjusters per wheel whereas Bendix has but one (and stops much better) . Both are adjusted the same way , chock the truck so it won't roll away then release the park brake and kick the service brake pedal hard a couple times then slide underneath the allready jacked up and safely blocked truck , tranny in neutral , give the wheel a spin , you should not hear any ' SHh , Shh ' sound from the brake shows touching the drum , turn the adjuster until the wheel locks , then back the adjuster off only until you can rotate the wheel 360° and not hear the shoes dragging ~ forget that nonsense about backing the adjuster off 14 clicks , that's for newbs and dolts , I'd rather you have the best stopping power possible . It's important to not have any drag as this is how you know the drums are cooling off between each brake application , 'K ? . It really is best to leave the park brake cables ever so loose so you'll get proper brake shoe adjustment clearance , after you've driven a few thousand miles you can take 'em up a bit if necessary . Nate, On page 53 there is the adjustment for Huck brakes, for my 3/4 ton. Man it was too cool. The brakes functioned purdy good. The truck ran great! Didn't go much over 30 due to the wife being with me and no passenger door. But she was all smiles also. Found I have a small valve cover gasket leak, so I will fix that. But other then that I just have to do some small wiring and its off to the body shop. Here are some pics of the 1st drive
brit that is too funny, I bout fell over laughing when i red that. The wife has been so great throughout everything. Heck she bought me the truck cuz she knew i always wanted one. We have only been married for almost 1.5 yrs now. But she had a great time riding in it, she thought it looked so cool out over the big hood!!! can't wait to get it finished the rest of the way, so we can drive it more
Good on yah! That is exactly what I was hoping to hear! Your first ride! There's no going back now, right? The coolest thing I read was how your wife loved to look out over that rounded hood! Anyone who ever drove one of these knows exactly what she's talking about. You set up high to start with~ unless you fool around with the seating... Then you look out through a SPLIT windshield and over that hood, way down to the leading edge of the front fender and you know- You are driving something unique! An "AD". I'm happy for you, Brian! I would have said so sooner, but... I've got parent/teacher conferences tomorrow and next Monday, plans for my garage to submit to the planning and inspection department of city hall, AND a check to send off to Eaton Springs for my 2" lowered springs and U-bolts for the front end... I've been kind of busy, but HAPPY! Thanks for keeping us updated! Good luck with all the other stuff you're trying to do! Remember how fortunate you are to have a wife as cool as you have. Thanks so much again Zig, you helped me more then you ever know. Man that ride was so cool. I have to adjust the brakes a little more, but they were pretty good actually. Where are you building your garage? Right over where you have been storing your truck? You have such a nice big lot, its nice to have all that room to do so. I can't wait to see your truck again, post some pics of your painting whenever you get a chance. My mom is a teacher also, and she has been so busy lately also with all those parent teacher conferences and everything like that too. My wife has been so great with the truck. She helps me when she can and hangs out in the garage with me. Not to mention she rode in it with me without the passenger door but it has been a lot of fun so far. Can't wait to get all the wiring buttoned up and get it on the road.
Truer words have not been spoken! Actually, the Southern most wall will go right over the middle of where my truck is now! (This is of course, due to code requirements. One of the reason I'm putting the front end under it ASAP.) As far as helping~ that's what this site is all about, right? Heck, I'd even help brit!

Nice Stang on the trailer. My first car, Me and my father restored it. I was 14. We have a friend that ran a body shop and I worked all summer at the shop and that winter he let me paint it for helping out in the shop. I lived in TN at the time and got my permit when I turned 15. WOW, what great memories. Red on Red, I'll have to post some pics some time.
My uncle is going to restore it with his 12 yr old son. Man was he excited to get it. that was all he talked about for like 3 weeks after i told him i could get him one for $200. My cousin and my uncle came over a few times to help me with my truck, and my cousin kept talking about getting mowing jobs to buy a car. and i told him that he could easily get an old vehicle like my truck, and fix it up and end up with a cheaper car then a lil cheap starter car, yet still have a sweet old muscle car. and man he was pumped, and of course my uncle loves doing that kind of stuff, so its a win win. kg4mon yeah post some pics sometime if you get a chance. Ill try to keep you updated on what my uncle is doing.

yeah he got a purdy good deal on it. It does have a lot of rust, but nothing that can't be fixed. but for 200 bucks, ya really can't turn it down
So Brian~ Hows that beautiful G of yours coming? Have you had it out on the streets again? If not, get a door and "Get 'r Done"! Have you thought much about a 1/2 ton axle with dropped springs and a 3.73 rear end??? Let us know!
