old49chevys restoration thread

Nice job Jesse, I'm not too crazy about them old 3 speeds though, I went through about a half a dozen of them before I finally converted to late model running gear. I even busted the case in half on one of them. Boy was my dad pissed! But that was 30 years ago and a lot of good times. Yeah good times, you'll see:)

Looking good, young man!

Nice! From the looks of the firewall, is it safe to say that you've decided on black? I'm liking what i'm seeing! More pics, more pics...

Yea I think I'm going to go with black. I almost forgot to put these pictures on. The doors and fenders are almost ready for paint just need to prime and sand a couple more times. The top vent was really rusted so I made a new top peice, I think it took me longer to get the old one off then to make a new one!

Old49chevy

Hey Jesse

This is a thoroughly done peace of work i must say.
I am proud of the fact knowing that some of the younger generation shows so much passion and intrest into the old car buisness. But i i`ll expect that your dad is intrested to or some others in the famely, at least it has been like that in my own famely. My dad whas intrested driving the old indians and Harley motorcycles, my son is both intrested in the old car buisness and motorcycles like me. But most of the young generation here in Norway preferes to drive newer cars like BMW, Audi or volkswagen.

This is one of his and 2 more there project ;Volkswagen double cabintruck 1963 modell with split front window.Pictures shown below is not the actual car but it is excactly the same look and colors.

Good luck restoring this beautifull truck.

Sinc.Martinius.

Buy some more sandpaper if going black! You'll need it!;) Looking forward to pics, young man!

Do not use your bare fingers against the sandpaper, use a sanding block/s, your hand will leave/transfer the valleys of your fingers and palm onto the bodywork. Looking down the paint job black being the worst people will see every place the fingers were against the sandpaper.
BTW, how is the Wallis coming along?

update

Hello everyone

I haven’t been getting a lot done but I am making slow progress. Just thought I would post some more pictures for those interested. Got my break lines and gas line on, and fixed my gas tank.

Thanks Jesse

Looking Good !

You work looks impressive .

You need to remove that fuel filter right away - it must never be placed before the fuel pump . it should be at the carby's inlet and never underneath the vehicle in any case .

Good advice, I'm guessing underneath is a fire hazard or easy to bang up? Not sure why you don't want them want them before the fuel pump. I'm still learning.
