    Stand by generators

I have a 6kw and a 7.5kw generator. Can I combine them in some way to have 13.5kw available? Neither can handle shop demand during outage.

    No more carburetors

If you bring one in with wood spoke wheels, acetylene gas lights, tube tires, and a hand crank we might consider it because they are of the same degree of development as a carburetor but anything else is getting a FiTech self tuning throttle body. Idles and runs dead smooth, built for what now...

    How to do electrical work

Lock door, disable all phones, turn on every light plus several more you've borrowed, clean ( with lacquer thinner) 5x10 welding table for lay out, tune in to a classical music station with selection from Brahms or Strauss and not Rossini or Paganini, remove front seat if under dash work...

    Hey guy's listen up

We have a 50 3100 in the shop with a zero wear steering box. You can't move the steering wheel 1/16 inch before pitman arm moves. The truck is getting a Mustang ll ifs so the column and shaft will be cut off at the top of the gear box. If you have an old crap unit all we need is the tube and...

    Chiro

Andy, Did you receive my reply on the V8 bell housing? On anything but straight email I never know if I did it right. The picture of the one you sent is for a 55-57 car and not a good fit but I sent you an ebay number for a truck one---$80. I just used my last one on a 1928 Chevy dump truck...

    Proud of themselves

Guys in shop all jumped onto a 55.2 pickup last Monday and MII'd it in one day. Johnathon cleaned the frame rails, plasma cut boxing plates and migged them in. Kory welded in cross member and hung all the suspension on it. Abel cut factory column and U-jointed it to the rack and also mounted the...

    Okay---Here goes

Going to try a build thread; first ever and might be as appealing as yesterdays meal floating on the surface of a septic tank. In the beginning: Long bed single cab S10 (nice truck totaled due to engine fire). Cab and bed removed; all done with a 17mm socket Frame cleaned top and bottom

    Not old yet

But time is closing in on me. Body, eyes, hearing, muscles, and now even my files are showing their age. Went to look up some parts the lazy way with me laying on the couch with a catalog rather than setting in front of computer. Catalog is a bit out of date but then I remember when Mark just...

    Beginners luck

Customer brought a short wide 68 to us for media blasting and to straighten a few dents. After scrubbing to bare metal the truck needed NOTHING as far as any rust work was concerned. Cab corners, door sills, door/fender bottoms, etc---all perfect. Getting longer and longer between times of...

    Very touchy

On the air induction tube on an LS engine one CANNOT have more than one bend. Didn't like the looks of the cone shaped filter being crammed into the front corner between radiator and inner fender as well as leaving no horn room so curved the tube back over valve cover, much prettier. We switched...

    Should have checked

We have two customers that want the first series Blazer so we bought four to make two out of. 4WD vehicles are not rare but also not common here so we bought one from Minnesota where many pickups/SUV's/Suburbans/ etc have 4WD. The idea was to put a Texas body on the 4WD Minnesota frame---NOT...

    All alone

No phone, no radio, no people so time to do some long put-off jobs. First up and just completed was dumping florescent and incandescent lights and replacing with LED's. Took 67 eight foot LED bulbs for florescents and 10 spiral LED bulbs to replace incandescent ones. At ten bucks a bulb my...

    New twist to Christmas tradition

For thirty years we would help one person that had a ragged old ride so they could have something dependable to get them to work. About ten years ago we decided to help a number of folks by helping assemble anything with wheels, from toys to lawn tractors. It has become very popular but since...

How do you guys do it?

We have a call for two first series Chevy Blazers that the entire top removes so we went out and bought four to be sure and have enough to build two. Three are from Texas and one is from Minnesota. The Texas ones are all 2wd but the one from Minnesota was purchased to get the 4wd and a nice pto...

    Finally It's Gone!

The toy has a new home at last. Warned new owner STRONGLY about staying on top of it or face quick trouble and to always stop three feet before he thinks he should or figure on a new nose at 20k per nose. On his test drive he broke the rear tires loose at 60mph in 5th gear and hung the rear out...

Selling an old truck is easy

Just ask my darling wife. She sold her fishing truck to the first person that looked at it and got a whole 8 grand. She proudly told me she had all the receipts and only had $7800 in it. When I asked her about all the things the guys in the shop had done to it for her she said that didn't count...

    Sad to see them go

Chassis Engineering in Iowa is closing shop after 53 years. Always had good products at a fair price and was one of very few that offered a choice of weld in or bolt in parts. Going to have an online auction sometime after Thanksgiving.

    1954 Duranax Diesel

Customer brought his 54 ex- Coka Cola delivery truck by that he has put on a 96 Chevy Duramax Diesel chassis. Fit pretty darn good and interior (no pix) is outstanding. He didn't know it was an old Coke truck till he began sanding off the green repaint. With more patience than I ever had he then...

    Different LS approach

On previous AD's with LS engines we have use high mount compressor and alternator brackets but this one has the inner fenders modified so stock parts can be easily obtained if needed. Will look better when finished and painted---what do you think?

    Problem solved

My cell phone was going crazy, not ringing, would not shut off, woman's voice replaced all functions, but the worst part was it just kept calling a long time friends number over and over. I took it to ATT&T where the tech told me it was a cheap phone so to just replace it. Did not know it had a...
