NO but.......

It's not terribly difficult to change , you just need to apply your self .

The '50 Chevy 3100 in my local P-A-P has an open rear end and so far , NO ONE has taken it ~ a true , completed BOLT IN open drive line but no one even glances at it .

Me , it'd be the very first thing I'd want , if I still had a Torque Tube vehicle as it gives you endless tranny choices as well as better (Bendix) brakes and they sell it for $200 drum to drum .

As this rig had the Muncie SM420 , I'd bought at least the back cover & yoke off that too .

Who knows what you'll find on that old GMC ? maybe the original jack and toolkit under the seat ? .

The reason I asked is it appears someone has already changed it. It had an open rear end in it. As well as some cheezy buckets seats and carpet on the dash.

Not sure what was under the hood.....I was trespassing at the time. Quick peak, snap a picture and get outta there.

Pictures are great, truck is great, and has given plenty of ideas for my own. Will start a thread of my own for my build, as these types of journeys are so awesome to follow! Thanks for sharing everything!

Two steps forward........3 steps back.

My axle is at Sid's getting lowered and I am progressing as fast as my family and checkbook will allow. Both available time and available cash are equally strained.

Coach, if you don't mind me asking, what did shipping cost you each way for sending the axle to Sid? Reason why I ask is that I saw today that Speedway had a 3" drop axle for $400 ($30 s&h). Wondering which is more cost effective and/or better results?

I got the full meal deal from Sid.

New drag link with ends
New tie rod with ends
modified steering arm and pitman arm for new style ends
modified steering arm for dropped axle
Shipping both ways

Paid around $800.00.

Good deal, thanks for the info. I'm going to get a complete front end from Joe (MotherTrucker) on Saturday for $250, and knowing how much things are going to cost is going to help me plan when I can afford to do things.

Hey Coach, if you dont mind my asking. What was the total weight of all your parts you sent to Sid? What all did you send? And last but not least, how'd you "box" everything up for UPS to accept it?

I wrapped the axle in bubble wrap and then covered that in cardboard. Basically made a long cardboard tube. I sent him my steering arms and spindles in a separate box.

Sid sent it back completely assembled and wrapped in shrink wrap.

I do not remember total weight. Shipping cost was about $65 each way, maybe less.
