Hello guys, I will also share with you the pain, not only the joys that a restoration can give . I have a problem with the windshield, my truck is born without the Deluxe SS Trim but I decided to install this because I like the most. I followed all the instructions I found on the web but the rubber in the corners at the bottom does not fit well. I bought everything new, glass, rubber and SS Trim. What do you think? Why I have this problem? Perhaps the windows need a small cut in the middle? Please someone who has passed this difficult time can help me understand? Any help will be appreciated. Many thanks Some pics:
Rubber window seals ! Frank good day to you. Using soap and a peace of rope is the way to go when installing the window rubber seals. Either you have moved the corner under install or the rubber seals are to long ! These molding are pressmade to fit , means they have a lenght and form that is a snug fit. Take the glass out and se how it fits in the corners , ask a friend to help you to keep it in position. It will show at once how the rubber reacts when pressing it in the corners. If this is the case return it to the vendor and buy rubber window seals at another vendor. Ol`chebby on this forum is the guy to ask , he has done a great job with his truck (ground up restoration) Ask him for more information and an adress for the correct rubber seals. Re : WIndshield Rubber You're using Chinese rubber there , it's crap and this is a common problem . Buy the correct one from Steele Rubber Co. , it's American made and top quality .
I do not know if this is made in china.....maybe made in taiwan :. Do not say the name to avoid bad publicity, but if you do you advise me to buy a Steele Rubber, I try to see if they send in Italy. Thank you so much for your help Frank
Frank, Steele Rubber Company is by far the best automotive rubber you can buy. Here's a link to their website. http://www.steelerubber.com And yes, they do ship overseas.
Steele rubber Hey Frank, i´ve just ordered the windshield rubber from Steele, as everyone on this forum recommended, not to use the stuff our host sells. You can do this online with no problem at all, the rubber arrived a few days later and the installation of the windshield was a breeze. Just use enough soapy water and a rope or i use a wire, to do the job
Hi Elky, Thanks. I also ordered the rubber as soon as I meet. I used the soap and then try it with silicone spray but ..... nothing to do, the problem was not the soap Waiting to install the windshield I'm doing the brake line in stainless steel... Thank you so much for your help Frank
Hello to all, If someone were interested, I will post some pictures of the glass conversion to a piece Parts from Classicparts: I started buying a U-iron for the reproduction of the glass channels....
Follows.... Front Channels brackets. I wanted to hide the screws to make a clean and invisible work. For you would be much easier to replace the doors with the '50 truck but for me it was the best solution Inside door
